Domain registration
The first step to have a space on the web is to register a domain name. You cannot "buy" a domain but you "reserve" it for a period of time, normally one year and then, before it expire, is possible to renew your domain, if not, it will be made available for the general public to register.
The domain name must be composed from 3 (in some case also 2) to 63 alphanumerical characters, you can use letters (a-z), numbers (0-9) and score (-). You also need to choose between a national (.it for Italy, .es for Spain, .uk for United Kingdom,...) or an international domain (.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz,...).
National domains offers some limitations (some must be registered only by citizens of that country), instead doesn't exist any limitation for international domains.
Is possible to register more than one domain and link all to the same website, this ensure that nobody else can use you name/brand on the web.
